IN SERVICE
Why do we give?
God desires to be first in our lives, and often we think we have nothing substantial to give. It usually comes down to the question: Do I trust the blessings or do I trust the Blesser? When we return the first portion of what we have to God, it is evident that He is first in our lives and we are trusting God to give us what we need. And when God is first in our lives, it opens the door for Him to bless us more.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be enough room to store it.
-
Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
How is a tithe different from an offering?
The Bible teaches us that a tithe is 10% of our income contributed to the church on a regular basis. An offering is when we are called to give over and above our tithe.
-
“A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.”
-
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
